A Holiday Message from Nancy Cartwright,
Honorary Mayor of Northridge

At the North Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce, we believe it is our responsibility to create an environment where business professionals, tradespeople, and entrepreneurs can thrive.

To accomplish this, we generate opportunities for members to:

  • Meet.
  • Build strong business relationships.
  • Partake in professional development programs such as workshops, seminars, and consulting services.
  • Exchange business referrals, and participate in our networking connection groups, including the CSUN Networking Connection the Education Connection.

Another great way to get to know your fellow chamber members is to become an NVRCC Ambassador. Our Ambassadors are the individuals you can call on to meet other members, to find out the ins and outs of the Chamber and become a familiar face at our meetings. If you are already a member and wish to become an Ambassador, contact our Chamber office today.

Once you’re comfortable at the Chamber and have a better understanding of how things work (we ask that you’re a member for at least a year), we invite you to enter a submission to the board during our election process period. Please contact our office for more information.

Besides all these exciting professional and networking opportunities, NVRCC is also your advocate to the various neighborhood councils and city, county, state, and federal government representatives, ensuring that your business has the best chance to continue to thrive in the years to come. We work with these officials to provide you with up-to-date information on any legislation that affects businesses and advocate on your behalf.

We urge you to take full advantage of these opportunities for business growth. Remember, the Chamber only works if you work it.

Help Housing Providers and Keep At-Risk Angelenos Housed

Mel Wilson
November 11, 2021

Part of solving our city’s homeless crisis is keeping at-risk Angelenos in their homes. The city’s rollout of the COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program was problematic. Since the State of California took over the program, applications have soared and disbursement of needed funds are being delivered. We face a shortfall of at least $900 million in rental assistance funds.

Lucille Ball Lived in Northridge?

Cherry Henricks
June 25, 2021

Visitors to our chamber office are often astonished to find among the history photos that adorn our walls, a 1940’s era photo of Lucille Ball in front of a wood mailbox with the address 19700. Via the use of property records, street maps and aerial photography, that address has been determined to have been on Devonshire Street at Corbin Avenue between the Northridge and Chatsworth orange groves. The house was set back many yards from Devonshire and accessed via a long driveway. The acreage was surrounded by a white rail fence as seen in the mailbox photo.

Phenomenon of Music - What is Music?

Andreas Farmakalidis
June 8, 2021

As far as I know, every society has some form of music. Music is universal, however its meaning is not. Music, through a Universal phenomenon, gets its meaning from culture. Different cultures interpret it differently. With the term culture, I connote the whole way of life of that specific group of people, learned and transmitted from one generation to the next. We call ‘music’ music, however not all cultures have a word for it.
